All major game stores are running sales currently as part of Black Friday. Valve's Steam Autumn Sale is already underway, and so are sales on the Epic Games Store and Gog.
The Gog store is special, because it does not force customers to use a software and because its offerings come without DRM. The software, completely optional, provides interesting features such as options to roll back updates.
The store's Black Friday sales has more than 2600 games discounted by up to 91% according to the description on the Gog website. Unlike on Steam, Gog's sale includes daily deals with extra discounts.
Most games that you can get on Gog are older games and not the most recent titles, and most recent titles that you can get are indie games; this is not necessarily a bad thing since the indie niche has seen incredible growth in recent years.
Here is a, very personal, selection of eight games that you might consider purchasing during the sale.
Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition (€5.99)
Fallout: New Vegas has been created by Obsidian Entertainment, not by Bethesda. I think it is the better Fallout 3 game, and the Ultimate Edition includes all the DLCs and extra quests and content for the game.
It may not be the prettiest of games by today's standards, but its atmosphere and story more than make up for that in my opinion. If you never played it, it is an excellent opportunity to do so.
Warcraft II Battle.net Edition (€6.49)
The Battle.net Edition of Warcraft II includes the main game Warcraft II Tides of Darkness and the add-on, Warcraft II Beyond the Dark Portal. It is a classic RTS game and since it may take a while before Warcraft III is finally released by Blizzard, it is a great way to replay the original game or play it for the first time.
Into the Breach (€7.49)
Into the Breach is an excellent turn-based strategy game with a lot of replayability thanks to its squad system and different unit types that you can choose between. Your main task in the game is to protect the remains of civilization from "gigantic creatures breeding beneath the earth". It is by the makers of FTL, and a must-buy if you like turn-based strategy games.
Tales of Monkey Island (€1.29)
The adventure game by Telltale Games plays in the Monkey Island universe, but it plays differently from the classic LucasArt games. The bundle includes all episodes that were released, and you will meet popular characters such as Guybrush Threepwood and the pirate king LeChuck.
Gabriel Knight series (each title €3.39)
The Gabriel Knight series of adventure games has a special place in my heart. It all started with Sins of the Fathers, a classic hand-drawn mystical adventure game that plays in New Orleans. Sierra Entertainment jumped on the real-actors bandwagon with the second part of the game, and on the 3D craze bandwagon with the third.
The story is excellent in all three games, and I'd recommend you start with part 1 as it provides a good backstory for the parts to come.
Knights of the old Republic I and II (€2.99)
Knights of the old Republic, or Kotor, is a Star Wars themed roleplaying game that plays during the time of the old republic. It offers an excellent story, lots of choices and options, and provides a great view of the old world in the Star Wars universe. If you never played these, I'd suggest you do so right now as both are excellent games that provide you with lots of hours of enjoyable game play.
Privateer 2: The Darkening (€1.29)
If you prefer space combat, Privateer 2 may be to your liking. It is space combat and trading game in which you try to rise and leave a mark. It is up to you to become a peaceful trader, a pirate, or a bounty-hunter.
Heroes of Might and Magic 4: Complete (€2.59)
Heroes of Might and Magic 4: Complete is not the last title of the series, but it is one of the better titles. It is a turn-based strategy game with several campaigns. You start with a lone hero usually that you keep during campaigns, conquer cities, build structures to improve resources and unit availability, and try to conquer all the enemies on these maps.
Combat is turn-based, and if you like that, you get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of the game. There are also scenarios and multiplayer is supported as well.
