Mozilla has released Firefox 82.0.1, an update for the stable channel of the web browser that addresses several stability issues in the browser. Firefox 82.0.1 is already available and most Firefox installations will receive the update automatically thanks to the browser's built-in updating functionality. Users can run manual checks for updates by selecting Menu > Help > About Firefox to speed that up, or download the installer from Mozilla's official website.
Mozilla released Firefox 82.0 last week and noticed some issues rather quickly. The organization made the decision to slow down the rollout of the browser to user systems to analyze the reported issues.
Firefox 82.0.1 addresses issues found in previous versions of the web browser. These issues include the reported printing issues of Firefox 82.0.
The full changelog is available here. It confirms that Mozilla patched both reported printing issues in the new release. The first issue caused some PDF documents to be printed with extra margins at the top and left side of the document. The issue was caused by PDF documents with margins of zero, and has now been addressed.
The second printing related issue affected printouts with widths or heights greater than 100 inches. This caused recipes and other printouts, e.g. roll paper printouts, to show up blank in the print preview and resulted in blank documents being printed. Mozilla corrected the printing issue in Firefox 82.0.1.
Firefox 82.0.1 addresses a browser crash that affected Firefox 81 and newer versions of the web browser next to that. Windows users who use the full installer to install Firefox may also notice that an unnecessary "reboot now" prompt after installation is no longer displayed. The issue did not affect the majority of Firefox users and installations on Windows, as it required the use of the full installer and having already one installation of Firefox on the target system in a different location.
Last but not least, there has been an issue in WebDriver:ClickElement that got resolved in the new release.
The next major stable version of the Firefox web browser is scheduled to be released on November 17. 2020.
Now You: Have you used Firefox recently? Did you run into any issues?
